As I covered music festivals photographically for almost a decade, I also visited various festival venues in the summer of 2020 – but to show them from a different side in the light of the ongoing pandemic.

This project shows how surreal and ghostly the areas appear, where normally thousands of people dance, celebrate and enjoy themselves. It should serve as a documentation of an unprecedented and hopefully unique festival summer and intends to illustrate the struggles in which the cultural industry currently finds itself.

All pictures were taken between June and August 2020.
